Acoustic Solutions

   The Meandering Ribbon

Developed for the revitalization of a brownfield industrial hall into a contemporary exhibition space, this acoustic proposal addresses the challenge of managing sound in a high-volume, hard-surface environment. The core of the design is a custom five-rail suspension infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with the original steel roof trusses, serving as a versatile backbone for two distinct spatial concepts. In the first variation, identical acoustic baffles are suspended to form a precise, rhythmic grid that emphasizes structural clarity. The alternative approach utilizes heavy fabric strips draped between the rails and anchored at their intersections, generating a fluid, undulating ceiling landscape that softens the industrial rigidity. By combining functional sound absorption with sculptural form, the system transforms the overhead void into a defining architectural feature while respecting the hall’s historical character.
